Where were you born?
Earth

Do you really lock yourself in your studio?
I do spend a long time in my studio and only when working on a secret project do I bolt the doors!

Is your middle name really Mirabilis?
You will have to ask Neil Gaiman.

Are you critical of your own work?
Yes, very. Only when my work jumps up and dances round the studio do I know it's time to stop.

Did you go to art college?
Yes I went to East Ham Technical College as did Barry Windsor Smith and Ralph Steadman.

Why did you end up working in comics?
Because comics are a fantastic way of storytelling, and I enjoy telling stories. To me comics are no different to working in film, which I also have done.

What’s your favourite Comic company to work for?
I actually enjoy working for all the major companies, I find it keeps my work exciting and constantly evolving in new directions.

How long have you been working in comics?
Close to 25 years now

Which artwork are you most proud of?
Always my current work.

How long does it take you to paint a cover?
Each cover differs but on average around 5 days.

What materials do you use to paint with?
Mixed media.
